Sustainable Food Systems – Weekly Update – August 26, 2018

This week I attended the monthly MARCO meeting, where we did a group activity to map out features of our food system based on the Building Community Networks Through Community Foods  study conducted by Ken Meter. It was both productive and educational, and MARCO will be using the results to analyze perceptions on our food community.

We will be kicking off our Help-A-Farm project on September 30 at the Farm at Agritopia.  The aim of this project is to support our local food producers, connect people to food sources, and provide food-growing education and experience to volunteers.  We will be helping a different farm every month with different projects such as harvesting, weeding or farmers markets.
If you are interested in volunteering in future farm projects, please let me know!

If you’d like to hear more about our priority or projects, please join our monthly food systems meeting on
Thursday, August 30 from 6-7 pm via Google Hangouts, link to join: https://meet.google.com/xbr-mdsx-qnk?authuser=2
Hope to see you there!

Also, voting for the CVS Community Heroes grant ends on August 31,  if you haven’t already voted, please do! This grant will go to putting a vertical garden in every school with in a low-access district. Vote here: https://cvshealth.com/social-responsibility/our-giving/community-heroes-grant-program
