AZSA has partnered with Glendale High School to work with their Science Club to pilot our Food Tech For The Future food computer program. Our amazing Tech Team started building the first computer last week and we will bring it to the school during our 11-week lesson plan with students. During this time we will also introduce students to sustainability, technology, and ecology concepts, and help them to build and code their very own computer where they can conduct food research. We will also be building a digital farm where the students can apply the knowledge gained from computers to grow their own food! Learn more about food computers here:
Our Sow It Forward: Vertical Garden Project is also going well, and we are working to get the second round of gardens in each of the seven schools within the Fowler Elementary School District.
The AZSA Help-A-Farm this month will be at the Farm at Agritopia. We currently have filled our volunteer needs for this event, but if you are interested in participating, and donating labor hours to a local, small scale farm, we will be working with The Farm at South Mountain in March, and The Arizona Worm Farm in April. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information, or to sign up for a future event!
The Food Systems Monthly Meeting will be held on February 15 from 6-7 pm at The Churchill (901 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004) on their upstairs patio. We will be discussing all of our projects, and opportunities for volunteer support. Please join if you would like to hear more about any of our projects, or if you are interested in getting involved!
