Last week our priority attended the ASU Change the World event at Sun Devil Stadium and exhibited our Sow it Forward: Vertical Garden Project and our Food Tech for The Future: Growing Digital Farmers Project. I am thrilled to announce that we won $500 for our exhibit and pitch! Thank you to Christina Schmitt and Daryn Renteria for coming out to help and delivering an awesome project pitch!
We also just registered to pitch the Food Tech project at an ASU Seed Spot event next week, on Friday, April 12. More information here: https://seedspot.org/communities/launch-camp-asu-april-2019
Our Food Tech for the Future project is going great, we finished building the second computer with The Glendale High School Science Club this week, and will be starting coding, research, and experimentation next week! We will also be building an additional computer for AZSA to use for education and outreach, which is so exciting! If you are interested to help us in building food computers, or want to learn more about the project, please reach out to me!
In March we visited The Farm at Agritopia as part of our monthly Help-A-Farm event, and it went great! We helped Farmers Tim & Becky lay out water lines for the fields, cover the crops in plastic to help fight weeds, and planted 7 rows of different types of peppers and flowers. It was such a reward to hear that we saved them 40+ hours of labor!
On Sunday, April 14, we will be volunteering at The Arizona Worm Farm as apart of our Help-A-Farm project. If you are interested in joining, please contact email@example.com
On March 25 we will visited the Fowler District to continue our garden installs as apart of our Sow it Forward Vertical Garden project. We are excited to be getting all of the gardens up and running in the schools! If you’d like to get involved, please contact me for more info.
