Project Description

The Arizona Sustainability Alliance currently has city liaisons in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler. The role of the city liaisons is to work directly with city officials to understand what the sustainability needs of the communities are, what needs are being met by the cities, and what are the cities unable to do. Capacity building in communities is key. For example, in Mesa we are working on a neighborhood level to educate and demonstrate sustainable practices. Every month our Mesa liaison and team will move to different neighborhoods working with other non-profits to provide training on a residential level. Our goal is to utilize innovation for achieving community well-being. This also lessens the burden on cities to promote what sustainability programs they may already have in place that of which the public is unaware.
