The 2023 Sustainability Celebration marked a historic moment for the Arizona Sustainability Alliance (AZSA). Hosting our most significant event to date, we welcomed over 160 participants on November 1st to delve into the critical issue of Tree Equity and its influence in Maricopa County.

The event’s success was primarily due to the active participation of attendees and the insightful contributions of our speakers. Jad Daley, President and CEO of American Forests, provided an educational perspective on the importance of urban tree canopies. At the same time, Mayor John Giles highlighted the City of Mesa’s commitments to tree-planting initiatives. Additionally, Tara Jackson and the AZ Town Hall team skillfully facilitated discussions, engaging the audience in a meaningful exchange of ideas.

This gathering was an educational experience and a platform for strengthening partnerships across various sectors, all united in addressing the disparity in tree coverage across the valley.
