Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area Tree Planting and Park Clean-Up Event: Arizona Sustainability Alliance Collaborates with Local Area Partners and the City of Phoenix
Local community partners came out in force to support the local environment in honor of Earth Week 2023 and AZSA’s Conservation Invasion.
PHOENIX, AZ– April 20, 2023 —
On April 18, the Arizona Sustainability Alliance organized a “Tree Planting and Park Clean Up” event at the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area in collaboration with Edward Jones, SRP, Phoenix Rising FC, Evergreen Devco Inc., and the City of Phoenix.
Over 50 AZSA staff and volunteers, along with the City of Phoenix, worked together to remove over 1,000 pounds of invasive plants and dead tree trimmings while planting over 20 new trees. This event represented an important step in the restoration of the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area and the maintenance of its robust ecosystem.
“We are honored to work with our community partners to ensure that the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area remains a natural haven for wildlife and a place where visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature,” said Orlando Cazarez, CEO, of Arizona Sustainability Alliance.
With the help of Edward Jones, SRP, Phoenix Rising FC, Evergreen Devco Inc., and the City of Phoenix—organizations whose dedication to environmental protection has had a profound effect on the neighborhood—the event was made possible.
